Erasmus at Fjarðabyggð Music School
Current status
Fjarðabyggð Music School is currently preparing an application for Erasmus membership in the school part of the program.
The information on this page describes the project currently in development. Any planned trips, study and training projects, or international collaborations are subject to approval, funding, and final agreements with partner institutions.
What is Erasmus ?
Erasmus is a European cooperation programme in the fields of education, training, youth, sport and culture.
The program provides students and staff with opportunities to learn from other schools, participate in international collaboration, become familiar with new teaching methods, and enhance their professional, personal, and multicultural skills.
Why Erasmus ?
The Fjarðabyggð Music School operates in six locations: in Neskaupstaður, Eskifjörður, Reyðarfjörður, Fáskrúðsfjörður, Breiðdalsvík and Stöðvarfjörður.
Due to the school's geographical location, its students and staff do not always have the same access to international opportunities as people in larger urban areas. By participating in Erasmus , the school aims to create more opportunities for learning, collaboration and cultural exchange with music schools and other educational institutions across Europe.
Our goal
The main goals of the school's Erasmus project are to:
- ensure equal opportunities for students at all six school locations;
- promote inclusion, personal development and a sense of belonging to the community of each establishment;
- support students with diverse learning needs;
- promote students' self-confidence, independence, communication skills and collaboration skills;
- enhance the professional knowledge of teachers and implement new and student-centered teaching methods;
- strengthen cooperation between the Fjarðabyggð Music School's branches;
- build long-term partnerships with music schools and educational institutions in other European countries.
Proposed actions
If the school's application is approved, the projects could include:
- group studies and study trips for students;
- music workshops and collaborative creative projects;
- interaction and concerts with students from other countries;
- career orientation and professional visits for teachers;
- courses and professional development for staff;
- visits by experts and guest lecturers;
- collaboration and communication with European schools online.
Participation, inclusion and equal opportunities
Information about participation opportunities will be publicly advertised and made available to all students and parents.
The selection of participants will be based on clear, transparent and consistent criteria that will be published in advance. The selection may take into account, among other things, interest and motivation, preparation, collaboration skills, potential personal and academic benefits, and preparation for communication in English.
Financial or geographical barriers, transportation difficulties, disabilities, health conditions, or special educational or attention needs should not automatically prevent a student from participating. The school will strive to provide appropriate support and assess the individual needs of each participant.
